Born into a musical family, I was never really given an option of whether or not I would be a musician. I remember being a young child, listening to 45 RPM's of Elvis in my childhood home. I began piano lessons at the age of six, studying mostly classical music for quite some time. I started "composing" music on the piano when I was 11 and never looked back. At the age of 12 I picked up the guitar and ever since that moment, it has been my instrument of choice.
Being born and living the first 23 years of my life in Michigan, I think I'll always have strong ties to that Motown feel and Detroit soul. I love working man blues and straight up rock 'n' roll. I have been highly influenced from my days of learning to play The Beatles, but more importantly learning to play the music that McCartney and Lennon cut their teeth on. In my formative guitar playing years, my favorites were Carlos Santana and circa-Cream Clapton.
When it comes to my songwriting and performance, I would consider my main influences to be Stevie Wonder, Steve Marriott, Rod Stewart, Keith Richards, Otis Redding and Bob Seger.
I listen to a lot of guitar blues, with my main guitar favorites being Buddy Guy and Robben Ford.
I enjoy all genres of music but my favorite to play is rock 'n' roll with a little bit of soul and funk overtones. You can catch me covering all kinds of different tunes, but I'll always do my best to put the Sean Sullivan stamp on them. I have an extremely large catalog of original works that I've written through the years. Everything from blue collar rock to power ballads to jump blues.
I am willing to perform live as a solo act or am willing to sit in or substitute with any group of musicians. I just love playing and that's what it's all about.
Beyond performing music, I love the process of production and am always getting my feet wet with engineering tasks, such as mixing.
